My team was tasked with producing the look and feel of an entire homescreen takeover to highlight how easy it is for users to redeem their free thanksgiving dinner.
My task was to:
- Create campaign app animations
- Produce additional animated creative for various brand touchpoints
It was pretty straightforward until...
Lottie animations won't work...
Typically any animation in app would be a lottie. It's lightweight & it looks sharp.
But the creative direction calls for lifestyle imagery...& lotties cant use lifestyle imagery, its vector based.
Solution?
We landed on creating Gifs, which can be troublesome due to their file size.
But by keeping their animation lengths short we were able to use them without affecting the speed of the app.
Results .
5 million Savers got a Free Thanksgiving Dinner
Hundreds of thousands of meals were donated to feeding America
$40 Million was given away in cash rewards
Animation wasn't everything, but I believe it made the user experience better.
And if that led to fuller belly's during the holidays, then that is pretty Rad 🤘
ABOUT ME
If I could go back and tell my parents that the flip book drawings inside my school text books would lead to a rich and fulfilling career as a motion designer.
I think they would've said, "What the hell is motion design? & who's gonna pay for these books?"
